Somethin Outta Nothin'

On some Hip-Hop shit, you probably won't really appreciate the music half as much if you can't understand where it came from and how much effort truly is put into making it. I, for one, was very much the same way but came to appreciate it way more when I realized the art of it and the hard work, creativity, and talent that really goes into making beats.

Hip-Hop music came from taking pieces of other music and creating a new sound. Whether it was a drum loop, a 1 second snippet of a horn stab, guitar riff, etc -- people created music based around this idea. Call it stealing if you will, but Hip-Hop music was never "proper" so to say. It was making something out of nothing, whatever people could get their hands on would be a potential ingredient. Hell, a lot of these records wouldn't have the exposure they have (them being out of print anyway) if it weren't for people sampling them. But whatever, I don't feel like typing about that lol.

I love collecting records that people have sampled for songs, so every once in a while I'll post up some clips like this. This is a pretty common record and as you will see, people can flip things in a whole new way. In this case, Just Blaze taking a few pieces out of a rock record and making an incredible beat out of it.
